The importance of hydration practices for sleep

  • Hydration plays a vital role in supporting sleep practices and body temperature.

  • Dehydration impacts normal hormonal rhythms and sleep quality and duration.

  • Insufficient sleep can further disrupt anti-diuretic hormone release. This is vital in regulating fluid balance. Low levels associated with increased urination.


Sleep dehydrates.

  • We naturally lose electrolytes in sweat, urine and respiration.

  • Ideally hydration with electrolytes and water is ideal upon waking.

  • this can be undertaken with some pink Himalayan sea salt coupled with lemon juice.

  • coffee and energy drinks contain caffeine. Caffeine acts as a weak diuretic and thus can lead to further dehydration. Ideally we should hydrate before drinking caffeine.
